Add Home, Network, Computer and Trash to the Desktop in Ubuntu

To add those icons to the desktop in Ubuntu, press Alt-F2 on your keyboard, then type and select the command below:

gconf-editor

Next, scroll down to Apps –> Nautilus –> Desktop and put  a check into the boxes shown below to display on the desktop.

apps --> nautilus --> desktop
